It lies on Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 7th Street Northwest and 9th Street Northwest.
United States Navy Memorial at 701 Pennsylvania Ave, NW, honors and celebrates the men and women of the Sea Services – the US Navy, US Marine Corps, US Coast Guard and US Merchant Marine. It is open 24/7 but its fountains operate only seasonally.
Built in stages between 1987 and 1991 it includes several large fountains, a statue of the Lone Sailor who overlooks an enormous world ocean map, Granite Sea, set in the plaza floor. There is also a Visitors Center, rotating exhibits, a large theater and a Media Resource Center / Library as well as a Navy Log room with touch screen kiosks to register and search for Sea Service members and veterans. And while inside, don’t miss the Ship’s Store gift shop!
This handy Google Map will show you where the Navy Memorial is in relation to the rest of the city.
